Clare Community Games – Futsal

The St Francis Credit Union Clare Community Games Futsal competitions were held on Sat & Sunday in Corofin GAA Hall.  The standard was very high with some matches decided on penalties.  It was coordinated by Flan Brennan and his very efficient team of helpers.

In the boys U13 competition five teams participated.  In the first round Corofin/Kilnaboy met Moylussa “ it finished all square at full time Moylussa 2 won 3 – 1 after penalties.  In the semi finals Lisdoonvarna/Doolin/Kilfenora/Kilshanny were beaten 6 – 0 by a much stronger Moylussa 1. While Moylussa 2 went down to Ballynacally/Lissycasey 7 – 0.The final was a very close match between Ballynacally/Lissycasey and Moylussa 1 with the east Clare side winning 2 – 1.

2nd Ballynacally/Lissycasey – Evan Cleary, Eoin Griffin, Conor Hill, Odhran Murphy, Michael O’Flaherty, Conor Ralpj, Rory Ralpj, Ewan Wragg

3rd  L.D.K.K. – Eoin Byrne, Conor Flaherty, Jack Flaherty, Stephen Garrahy, Mark Healy, James Garrihy, Nigel Kelly, Cathal Morgan

4th  Moylussa 2 – Rowan Butler, Charlie Costelloe, Dan Foley, Conor Geraghty, Cathal Scanlan.

In the Boys U15 only four teams took part.  In the semi finals L.D.K.K. was beaten 3 – 2 by Corofin/Kilnaboy while Ennis St Johns  beat Moylussa 2 – 1. The final between Corofin and Ennis St Johns was an extremely exciting close match with Ennis coming out on top by the narrowest of margins 3 – 2 to take the gold and the honour to represent Clare in the Munster finals in July.

4th   L.D.K.K. – Macdara Garrihy, Aidan Kelly, Jack Lynch, Aidan O’Loughlin, Conor O’Neill

In the girls U13 competition eight teams participated.  In the quarter finals Moylussa beat Corofin/Kilnaboy White 5 – 0, Corofin/Kilnaboy Red beat Ballynacally/Lissycasey 4 – 3 on penalties. Doora/Barefield beat Tulla and Ennis St Johns beat L.D.K.K.  In the semi finals Ennis beat Moylussa 1 – 0 and Doora/Barefield beat Corofin Red 2 – 0.  Moylussa won the bronze 1 – 0.  The final was a close encounter by near neighbours with Doora/Barefield beating Ennis St Johns 2 – 1.

In the U15 competition five teams took part.  Corofin/Kilnaboy beat Ballynacally/Lissycasey  for a place in semi final.  In the semi finals Ennis St Johns beat Inch/Kilmaley/Connolly and Corofin/Kilnaboy beat Moylussa.  Inch/Kilmaley/Connolly won bronze.  In the final the Ennis St Johns girls were the much stronger side winning 5 – 2.
